Merit Award Won
October 21, 2011
Alpha & Omega Group received the Carolina Chapter’s International Concrete Repair Institute’s Merit Award for the In-depth Assessment & Repairs on the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge in Oregon Inlet, North Carolina, completed in November 2010.
Project Manager and Vice President of Alpha & Omega Group, T. Glenn Zeblo, PE oversaw the inspections and in-depth assessment and repair plans of the bridge since the start of the project in Spring of 2006. North Carolina Department of Transportation had confidence in the A&O team, having worked together since 1998. A project highlight includes the 1.8% underrun of the entire $14.7 million bid by Coastal Gunite.
Based on the recommendations contained in A&O’s previously composed in-depth structural assessment, the project’s scope included extensive research of repair methods and materials, detailed locations of repairs for each substructure element, repair sequence, quantity estimate and development of 166 drawings for repair plans. These repairs are intended to extend the life of the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge for a ten year period, until 2016.
Including Alpha & Omega Group, the entire repair team was made up of H. W. Lochner, Inc, Wiss, Janney, Elstner, Associates, Inc, and Ko and Associates, P.C.
6th Annual Bethany Open Gold Sponsor
October 10, 2011
On a beautiful fall morning in October of 2011, Alpha & Omega Group participated in the 6th Annual Bethany Open as a Gold Sponsor. The Bethany Open Golf Tournament supports Bethany Christian Services, a global nonprofit organization and prominent leader in social services worldwide as the largest adoption agency in the U.S. Founded in 1944, their mission calls them to demonstrate the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by protecting and enhancing the lives of children and families around the world. The golf tournament took place at Devils Ridge Golf Club in Holly Springs, North Carolina, as it will the same time next fall. Sponsors are always welcome and new golfers are encouraged to participate to support this worthy organization.
Ted Bartelt, President of A&O, is highly encouraging and supportive of this event and has a personal spot in his heart for both The Bethany Open and Bethany Christian Services. He and his wife are adoptive parents through this organization, having adopted their daughter from Bethany Christian Services in 2002. A&O was proud to; once again, sponsor the event through giving monetarily, prayerfully and of their time.
