Wakefield Developers required engineering services for
a single span bridge designed to accommodate HS 20 loadings over Buck Hill Creek in Burlington, North Carolina. Alpha & Omega Group provided structural engineering services for a 53 foot long bridge with a 42 foot wide clear roadway. The bridge consisted of prestressed concrete cored slabs, 16 foot high concrete abutments, an asphalt wearing surface, concrete sidewalks and 3-bar
metal railing.

A pedestrian sidewalk and a three bar aluminum rail were provided along both sides of the bridge. Rock veneer was added to the reinforced concrete rail end posts for aesthetics. An asphalt wearing surface was installed on the deck to protect the cored slabs and provide a smooth
riding surface.
