After over 10 years of heavy use, the reinforced concrete pavement of Raleigh Durham International Airport’s North Cargo Fuel Drive, provided by Alpha & Omega Group in 1999, continues to hold strong. The design, contract documents, construction administration and construction observation services for the repair were coordinated between various fuel vendors, UPS Delivery Services and RDU Operations. This teamwork is a Core Value of Alpha & Omega Group and was key to the Fuel Drive’s successful completion.
The fifteen day project involved the removal of the existing full-depth asphalt pavement, followed by additional removal and replacement of unsuitable soils. An over seventy foot reinforced concrete stopping pad made of two mats of reinforcing steel was installed to accommodate an 83,000 pound fuel delivery truck.
This work was a part of the overall pavement repair project at the North Cargo Ramp, landside.
