A&O was selected to provide a visual inspection of existing parking garages by the Raleigh Durham Airport Authority.
Four garages were constructed over a fifteen year period. The first two garages were constructed in 1989 as three level, cast-in-place, reinforced concrete waffle slab with post-tensioned beams and joists. The third parking garage was constructed in 1998 and consisted of five levels of cast-in-place, post-tensioned reinforced structure divided into two sections. The fourth garage was constructed in 2004 as a seven level, cast-in-place, post-tensioned reinforced concrete structure divided into three sections.
A&O’s scope of work included a visual inspection of over 3,500,000 square feet of slabs, columns, beams and girders, prepare a written report of all deficiencies observed, and make repair recommendations. A maintenance schedule with frequencies was also provided.
