Alpha & Omega Group was hired as a consultant to
IES-Dewberry to provide structural engineering services
for the replacement of an MRI, weighing 13,000lbs.

The building containing the MRI was originally designed by FreemanWhite, Inc. in the 1970s and expanded by Odell in the 1980s. Subsequent work has been done by Peterson and Associates.

A&O’s structural engineering effort included verifying the structural integrity of the installation route, analyzing the existing floor structure to determine support adequacy, conducting a field investigation to verify the size and spacing of the existing structural framing, structural analysis of existing structural elements under the new MRI room and corridor, coordinating with IES-Dewberry regarding equipment size, weight, and location, providing the design for temporary shoring, and finally, providing a letter report certifying the adequacy of the floor system.
