Alpha & Omega Group was selected by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the spring of 2010 as the Structural Engineer for UNC’s Business School parking deck masonry investigation. The parking deck is a 4 level cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete structure approximately 250 ft. x 150 ft with brick veneer.

After an on-site meeting in June of 2010, it was determined that A&O’s scope of service would entail: a structural investigation of the masonry to determine cause of cracking and provide recommendations necessary for repairs, review as-built construction documents prior to commencing the fieldwork, field visual investigation of the masonry throughout parking deck, non-destructive in-depth investigation at select locations, investigation of one location after masonry was removed, and finally determine construction methods contributing to the deterioration of the masonry.
