The Fred G. Bond dam on the Crabtree Creek watershed had developed wave action erosion at numerous places along the length of the protective bench on the impoundment side of the earthen dam. Wake County called upon Alpha & Omega Group to remedy the erosion and restore the protective bench to its original configuration.

After providing an approved design, A&O assisted with bidding. When funding was not available for the original bid, a second bidding process was initiated. The project was awarded, and A&O provided construction administration.

Another challenge included reducing the dam impoundment by three feet before construction could begin. In addition, multiple agencies needed to be involved, including Town of Cary (owner of the park), Wake County (owner of the dam), USDA-NRCS (governs maintenance of dams) and Dam Safety (NCDEMLR – governs erosion control of state dams).

Construction was confined to the winter months to avoid disrupting park events. A&O completed all other construction administration tasks including invoice review, progress meetings, and providing Wake County with as-built record plans at project close-out. Ω
