Historic Oakview Water Tower
Construction Administration and Civil Plans
Oakview remains one of the City of Raleigh’s best examples for antebellum sharecrop farming. One of the historic features is a water tower that is located behind the main farmhouse. Given long-term exposure to the elements, the paint was starting to show signs of degrading. Wake County resolved to repaint the structure, but there were also concerns that the original paint had been lead based. As such they reached out to the A&O team to assist with assessment, testing and plans for repainting the structure.
Alpha & Omega Group provided assessment services and sent a sample of the paint to a lab for testing. Once the tests were complete, they developed plans to access the site and paint the structure. This included the removal of the tower and replacement of the basin, as well as refitting the structure. The team also provided contract documents, technical specifications, and a cost estimate. Once the design and assessment phases were done, the A&O team assisted with bidding and provided construction administration and close out services.
