Parker’s Creek Shower House
Structural Renovation
The NCDNCR is improving several structures in the park that do not meet modern safety standards. The Parkers Creek shower houses required renovations because the were built without covered entrances with the roof extending only to the edge of the building. This design makes frequent maintenance mandatory, has contributed to growing water damage around the shower houses, and lacks ADA accommodations.
As part of the Hobbs team contracted to renovate the buildings, A&O’s team performed and verify a limited topographic survey to determined what would be necessary to bring the structures to modern standards. After the surveying and review services were complete, the A&O team developed a preliminary site plan to improve the stormwater runoff and to meet current ADA standards. The team also provided construction documents, erosion and sediment control plans, grading, and a demolition plan as well as specifications and a list of material quantities needed. During the construction phase, the team provided construction administration and observation services as well as record drawings and a final inspection.
