A&O assisted Apple Designs, a contractor hired to replace the existing signs on the Airside Drive Bridge at RDU International Airport. A&O inspected and analyzed the existing sign supports to determine if the new, larger-sized signs could be attached to the existing supports.

To accomplish this, A&O reviewed plans of the existing bridge and connections to determine sign support dimensions, sizes, material strength and connection types. Engineering staff were escorted to the top side of the Airside Drive Bridge where they visually inspected, measured and determined the configuration and connection to the existing bridge. During these on-site inspections, they observed and measured support brackets and connections for the five overhead signs and analyzed them for strength and service for the new sign configurations.

Finally, A&O prepared and submitted a summary report to Apple Designs on the condition of the sign supports and the adequacy of the supports for the attachment of the new signs.
