Municipal Bridge Inspections
NBIS Inspection and Analysis
Routine safety inspections are provided using “hands-on” inspection techniques for each type of structure. Each structure is visually inspected from top to bottom, from one end to the other, recording deficiencies observed in each component of the structure. Photographs are taken to provide a visual record of noted conditions. The main elements of a structure are field-measured to verify dimensions and to document any changes that may have occurred since a previous inspection.
Load rating analysis may be performed, based on the inspection findings and the type of structure, to determine the structure’s capability of carrying legal vehicular traffic in North Carolina. Ω
